Many municipalities have established acute facilities to accommodate the complex requirements of the increasing number of elderly citizens with chronic diseases. The objective of these acute facilities is to improve coordination across hospitals, general practitioners and the municipal sector.

Together with an interdisciplinary research group, Viola Burau will analyse how contextual factors at different levels contribute to the successful implementation and upscaling of the municipal acute facilities.

The short-term goal is to develop a catalogue of 'best practices' for political and administrative policy-makers and healthcare professionals. The project also has a long-term social objective to improve and ease the life of eldery people with chronic diseases.
