Associate professor of biomedicine from AU receives grant from the Riisfort Foundation

PhD and Associate Professor David Olagnier from The Department of Biomedicine at Aarhus University receives DKK 195,000 from the Riisfort Foundation. The grant will be used in a research project on herpes viruses.

Associate Professor David Olagnier carries out research into immunology and virology, more specifically into the herpes virus. The grant has been awarded to the research project ‘Negative regulators of antiviral immunity as therapeutic targets'.

David Olagnier will investigate whether it is possible to control herpes virus infections by modulating the antioxidant transcription factor Nrf2. Between 60-90 per cent of the world's population is infected with herpes virus.

David Olagnier has a PhD degree from France. Prior to his appointment at AU, he has also held postdoctoral positions in both Montreal and Florida.
