First Aarhus professor in health promotion

With the appointment of MPH, PhD Helle Terkildsen Maindal as professor of health promotion, Aarhus University focuses on promoting health – particularly among the most vulnerable section of the population and in groups where social factors affect health.

The Department of Public Health at Aarhus University has appointed Helle Terkildsen Maindal as professor of health promotion. The underlying basis for her work is the challenges that everyday life poses for health and disease, and her ambition is, in collaboration with the citizens and on their own premises, to support the population in achieving improved health. This is in particularly within physical activity, diet and social involvement in a life course perspective.

Helle Terkildsen Maindal’s research into health promotion can help reorient and be of importance to both the healthcare sector and for social and local initiatives – as well as for the way in which health professionals and other professionals handle public health problems.

Helle Terkildsen Maindal is a qualified nurse and holds a Master of public health and a PhD in medicine. She takes up her professorship on 1 January 2018.
