Honorary scholarship for cancer researcher from Aarhus

Morten Høyer from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital has just received a scholarship for his research into cancer.

Morten Høyer from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital has just received a scholarship for his research into cancer.

Professor Morten Høyer conducts research into radiation therapy for cancer of the lungs, liver and bladder. And he has now been honoured with the award of DKK 125,000 from the Bunch-Jensens Honorary Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually and this time it went to a researcher in the area of oncology.

The scholarship will go towards research into the radiation therapy of prostate cancer. At the moment Morten Høyer and his colleagues are working on a project to identify mechanisms for the development of damage following radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

The professor is pleased to receive the scholarship.

“It’s a pat on the back for the type of research that we carry out at Aarhus University Hospital, and it gives us the opportunity of really moving the project a big step forward,” he says.

Morten Høyer received his final examination for the Master’s degree in Medicine from Aarhus University in 1984, and his PhD from the same university in 1994. He became a medical specialist in clinical oncology in 1997.
