Sandro Esteves is new honorary professor at Aarhus University.

In his research, Sandro Esteves focuses on male infertility. He investigates the changes that take place in the body in connection with e.g. varicocele and diseases that cause a low sperm count. The aim of the research is to treat men with difficulties to become fathers as well as to improve the quality and safety of treatments using assisted reproductive technology, such as artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization.

Sandro Esteves was born and raised in Brazil, where he graduated as a medical doctor and specialized in Urology. He trained in the United States subspecializing in Male Infertility and Andrology Research. It is in Campinas, Brazil, that he heads an internationally recognised fertility clinic that specialises in infertile men. It is also there that Sandro is professor at the Department of Surgery (Division of Urology) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP).  The professorship, which runs until the end of 2021, makes it possible for Aarhus University to initiate a number of research collaborations with the Brazilian professor.
