585 people were gathered in the Main Hall on Wednesday 24 June to celebrate the new doctors as they graduated from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

142 new doctors are finishing their time as students and heading for a new everyday life as newly qualified medical doctors. Host and Dean Allan Flyvbjerg welcomed the doctors and their families.

A combination of Aarhus University Choir and the voices of the 585 participants provided a mellow but also formal atmosphere in the hall.

Medical doctor Dennis Fristrup Simonsen had the honour of representing the exam class by giving this year's graduation speech. He began his speech by making it clear that being a medical student was synonymous with being a part of a very special community. He finished with a quote from Søren Kierkegaard: "Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards". This was a reminder to the new doctors to also find time to take a pause for reflection in the future.

The Dean congratulated each of the new doctors.

The new doctors were very pleased to have reached their goal and to now call themselves medical doctors.

The atmosphere was a mixture of relief and pride as the Hippocratic oath brought their time as medical students to an end.
