14.11.2019 | Hella Kastbjerg

Ana Teresa Queiroga is from Penafiel, Portugal. She is currently enrolled in her final year of a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, focused on Medical Informatics, at the University of Minho (Braga). Teresa will be at MIB for 8 months as a part of an Erasmus internship to conduct her thesis project. Entitled “Brain Fingerprints of Musical Complexity during Jazz Improvisation”, her project aims at developing a new methodological framework for studying the interaction between MIDI features and brain signals during music production. This process involves the representation of musical characteristics underlying constrained and free jazz improvisation and identification of which brain regions are driving the processing and/or production of such musical patterns. Teresa is supervised by Professor Victor Alves from the Syntetic Intelligence group (ISLab) of the Algoritmi Research Center at the University of Minho and by MIB Assistant Professor Henrique Fernandes.

Alongside with her studies, Teresa is a member of Gatuna, an academic musical group of the University of Minho and she has background training in classical guitar.
