Medical doctor from Mexico visits MIB to study music and chronic pain.

Victor Pando, M.D., comes from UNAM University, Mexico, and visits MIB for 2 months as part of a Master´s Degree in Neurobiology. Victor is currently collaborating with MIB Visiting Senior Researcher Dr. Eduardo Garza-Villarreal, studying the effect of music in chronic pain.
Victor´s recent studies include a systematic review and meta-analysis of music-induced analgesia in chronic pain conditions, and in his ongoing master´s thesis, he investigates the neural correlates of music-induced analgesia in fibromyalgia patients using behavioral measures and resting-state functional MRI.
In parallel with his post-graduate studies, Victor is a trained pianist from the Music Academy of Puebla, Mexico.
