25.01.2017 | Hella Kastbjerg

María Dolores Roldán works as a Tenured Professor of Neuropsychology in the University of Almeria in Spain. She is here for 6 months to collaborate with MIB professor Elvira Brattico investigating the benefits of musical training in brain.

She graduated in Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain. Later, she obtained Master's degrees in Psychology (Madrid) and Neuroscience (University International of Andalusia). She defended her PhD in Neuroscience in Almería, studying the neuropsychological effects of exposure or acute intoxication to pesticides, being her expertise in neuropsychological assessment. Two years ago, she graduated in Music (as Lyric Singer) in the School of Music of Almería.

Currently, her focus of interest is the relation between cognitive reserve and musical training, increasingly convinced that music is a decisive cognitive and emotional factor on well ageing.
