TITLE:
Dysfunctional sensory-motor learning in musicians: lessons from Musician’s Dystonia
ABSTRACT:
Musician’s dystonia is a spectrum disorder, which is characterized by degradation of motor control in highly complex over-practiced movements in musicians.
Besides overuse factors and psychological comorbidities, anticipation of movement-contexts can trigger the dysfunctional movement. This relates musicians dystonia closely to the Arhus-Vuust predictive coding theory.
I will elaborate on these aspects and try to link the predictive-coding theory to mechanisms causing dysfunctional movements in musicians.
