PhD student Thomas Beck Lindhardt and Associate Professor Brian Hansen from CFIN has written an article for the Danish scientific journal Aktuel Naturvidenskab about a sleep study.

About the article:

Modern brain research breaks with the tradition of using anesthesia in examining lab animals during e.g. MR scanning. The reason for this is that the anesthesia can affect the results, and when studying sleep as a phenomenon you have to be able to compare to measurements of awake, non stressed animals.
