Binocular Rivalry takes place when incompatible images are presented one to each eye and they compete for conscious perception. It has been observed that when a neutral stimulus rivals with an emotional one, the later tends to sum longer periods of time in conscious perception and/or be the first percept. We aim to characterize the role of endogenous attention in this bias by presenting rival neutral-emotional stimuli with a task related to the images while we record behavioral responses and ERPs. We expect to find an emotional bias reflected in the behavioral responses, i.e. the emotional stimuli will be reported in a greater number of trials; and the ERPs, i.e. the ERPs will show an emotional modulation around 200 ms after stimulus onset when comparing emotional vs neutral consciously processed trials.
