As of December 1, 2011 research consultant Søren Paaske Johnsen was appointed manager of a new research programme in clinical quality at Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University Hospital.
Søren Paaske Johnsen holds a MD from Aarhus University and has a PhD in epidemiology. He has vast experience with research in clinical epidemiology and clinical quality. He has been consultant at Department of Clinical Epidemiology since 2005 and been head of Competence Centre North since 2001. In relation to the establishment of the new research programme, Søren Paaske Johnsen has left the position as manager of the competence centre.
With the appointment, Department of Clinical Epidemiology wants to strengthen its research in the quality of treatment provided by the Danish public health care system. The new programme covers three areas: variation in clinical practice, efficiency of clinical interventions and evaluation of strategies for quality development. Its primary aim is to facilitate a development of treatment quality based on scientific results. As manager of the programme, Søren Paaske Johnsen will, in collaboration with other department staff members, develop and carry out scientific projects, attract research funding, recruit young researchers as well as strengthen collaborations with colleagues both in Denmark and abroad.
