New face at MIB: Antonio Criscuolo

Psychology student from Bologna visits MIB for 3 months.

Antonio is currently attending his last year in the Bachelor degree at the Faculty of Psychology - University of Bologna. He graduated in Bassoon at the Conservatory of Salerno and he is enrolled in the Master's programme in the Conservatory of Cesena.

As musician, he performs as soloist and in various chamber music groups, symphonic orchestras and wind ensambles in Italy, Europe and USA. Last year he also performed as orchestra conductor in Italy.

Antonio is at MiB for a three-months traineeship programme and is collaborating with professor Elvira Brattico on different projects: a meta-analysis of neuroimaging studies on the anatomical changes induced by music training; an imaging genetic analysis aimed at determining the modulatory role of BDNF gene polymorphisms on music-induced neuroplasticity; a behavioral study looking at the differences in general intelligence and executive functions between adult musicians and non-musicians.
