Rui Rodrigues is from Portugal and is currently finishing his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.
He is here at MIB to work on his master thesis project supervised by MIB PhD fellow Patrícia Mota and MIB postdoc Henrique Fernandes.
Ruy's project involves the development of a ‘Fingerprint’ of functional connectivity related to a successful rebalancing of the brain in patients with Parkinson’s Disease. This fingerprinting toll will combine connectomics with pattern recognition techniques to characterize the neural mechanisms behind successful cases of deep brain stimulation in Parkinson’s disease patients. Those techniques are constrained by measures of neuroanatomical connectivity (DTI) and functional activity (fMRI).
