Not so long ago in Denmark it was a parent’s moral duty and legal right to punish children physically, if they misbehaved. Today, chastisement is considered morally bad and forbidden by law. This is an example of a moral change. But how should we philosophically understand moral change and the dynamics leading to it? The dissertation demonstrates how philosophical engagement with the practice of law can help us find an answer.
