Marco Capogna granted DKK 2.5 million from Independent Research Fund Denmark

Marco Capogna granted DKK 2.5 million from Independent Research Fund Denmark (Medical and health sciences, Research project 1) to investigate the role of GABAergic neuron types of amygdala and hippocampus on behaviour.

Jo De Mey carries out research into areas including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart failure and the consequences of these diseases.

Familiar face to become visiting professor at Aarhus University

Jo (Jozef Gabriel R.) De Mey will be affiliated with Aarhus University as visiting professor at the Department of Biomedicine. Though it will be far from the first visit to Aarhus for the researcher specialising in cardiovascular diseases.

Majbritt is a new Laboratory Technician in Anders Nykjær’s group per May 16

Majbritt will take over many of Anja’s tasks while she is on maternity leave. Also Majbritt will be working together with postdoc Alena Salasova on her project, investigating the function of SorCS2 during embryogenesis with a particular focus on development of midbrain dopaminergic neurons.

Exam notes became an iBook Store bestseller

As newly graduated medical doctors, Jens Sundbøll and Morten Schmidt from Health decided that their exam notes ought to be put to good use. So they developed the app and bestseller 'Intern Medicin’ (‘Internal Medicine' in English) and founded a company that has now led to new opportunities for collaboration.

Prof Anders Nykjær contributes to article in The Lancet Neurology

PROMEMO Center Leader, Prof Anders Nykjær is one of the authors of the article: "Potential genetic modifiers of disease risk and age at onset in patients with frontotemporal lobar degeneration and GRN mutations: a genome-wide association study", which was published in the well-known journal The Lancet Neurology.

The Brain Collection will survive

The more than 9,000 brains in the Brain Collection are expected to be transferred to Odense in the autumn 2018. The University of Southern Denmark, The Mental Health Services in the Region of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital will be hosting the Brain Collection in the new brain research centre BRIDGE.
