Physical activity is necessary to maintain healthy and strong muscles and bones, and physical inactivity leads to a rapid loss of both muscle mass and bone tissue. For many people, this is common knowledge.

Aarhus University's new professor conducts research into changes in the structure and tensile strength of bone tissue as is seen when a person is inactive. She examines the biological mechanisms and changes in the bone cells that lead to loss of bone tissue, and also whether various pharmaceuticals can counteract this loss, so that the tensile strength of the bones can be preserved.

Annemarie Brüel will hold her inaugural lecture under the Danish title ”Knogler – døde eller levende?” (“Bones - dead or alive?") on Friday 2 June at 14:00.
