Alex Harvey started as PhD student in a collaboration between the Nissen, Kjærgaard and Poulsen teams

Alex's studies will focus on understanding the role of 3'UTRs in the neuronal trafficking of mRNAs with specific focus on the NMDAR transcripts. Especially in the nervous system, numerous cellular processes depend on the dynamic localization of mRNAs, and more than a thousand different mRNAs are localized to dendrites and axons, but the guiding principles and dynamic regulation have so far remained elusive.
