The grant of DKK 500.000 grant was awarded for a project on SORCS1, which is a genetic risk factor for the development of Alzheimer's disease as well as being involved in type 2 diabetes. The project aims to investigate how SORCS1 may link these two illnesses, as our recent findings have uncovered how SORCS1 participates in biological pathways affecting both diseases.
The awarded grant was presented to Anders Nykjær by Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte during the annual meeting of the Alzheimer's Research Foundation in Copenhagen on Friday 20 September 2019.
