New professor and chair for AU and AUH

Holger Jon Møller has been appointed professor and chair at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital, Department of Clinical Biochemistry. He takes up the position at the department – which is the largest of its kind in Denmark – on 1 July 2014. From 2015 the department will be gathered at one location in Skejby.

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry will be gathered in one location in Skejby in the spring of 2015. Holger Jon Møller has been appointed professor and chair for this department.

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry will be gathered in one location in Skejby in the spring of 2015. Holger Jon Møller has been appointed professor and chair for this department.

Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital, Department of Clinical Biochemistry will have a new professor and chair in the form of Holger Jon Møller. Together with the department management, Holger Jon Møller will undertake the planning of the new clinical biochemistry department. The department is currently spread over three locations, but from spring 2015 it will be gathered in one location in Skejby.

“Step-by-step the department will be gathered in a new physical environment which will provide optimal opportunities for all aspects of the department’s functions - research, development, clinical operation and education,” says Holger Jon Møller, who will head the unification and development of the department’s research in the new location and thus also have special responsibility for maintaining continuity and creating synergy.

Holger Jon Møller will become head of the department’s research and will have overall responsibility for teaching the medical students and researchers. He will have special responsibility for research and professional development within the specialist area in the whole region and will e.g. coordinate activities and support partnerships.

The department currently has a very active research environment with several internationally recognised research groups working on the development of diagnostic possibilities within e.g. diseases associated with blood clots, cancer, vitamins and inflammation conditions.

Holger Jon Møller will continue to act as consultant in the department and will undertake some of the department’s highly-specialised clinical functions as a diagnostic consultant for the hospital doctors. 

Holger Jon Møller obtained a Master’s degree in Medicine in 1990, a PhD degree in 1997 and he was awarded a DMSc in 2013 from Aarhus University. In 1999 he became a medical specialist in clinical biochemistry at Aarhus University Hospital, and in 2001 he became a consultant at the same hospital. He became associate professor at Aarhus University in 2002.
