Construction of the biomedicine building will now be noticeable

The construction of the Department of Biomedicine's new research building has now reached the point where the foundation needs to be established. This work will cause vibrations and noise in the area until the end of February 2015.

The excavators have already been hard at work for a month. The next step in the construction process is the laying of the concrete piles and iron plates for shoring. Some of the neighbours to the site will come to notice the work in the form of noise and vibrations. This part of the construction process will last until the end of February 2015, though the nuisance caused will not be constant and both the vibration and noise level will be within the permitted threshold values. Despite this, during the past week the construction work turned out to have such an impact on the fixtures and fittings in Buildings 1110 and 1120, as well as at the Steno Museum, that it had to be temporarily suspended. Efforts are currently being made to find a solution.

Excavation work is also currently taking place along Vennelyst Boulevard and this has led to the traffic lanes being narrowed and turned into one-way lanes. Aarhus Water are working on the water mains here. The work will last until 19 December 2014 and is not related to the Biomedicine construction project.

If you experience particular nuisance from the construction work, please contact Head of Building Services at Health Conor Leerhøy on tel. 2899 2241 or by email at conor@au.dk.
