When your return to your studies after the summer holidays, your courses, communication with teachers and fellow students, material and other relevant course-related information will be found on Brightspace. At the beginning of the autumn semester, Brightspace will replace Blackboard as AU’s shared learning platform.

With the introduction of Brightspace, Blackboard will be phased out – although the platform will first be shut down completely on 31 October 2021. For this reason, is important that you download all the course content you wish to save from Blackboard before this date. Find out here how to download content from Blackboard

When will I learn more about Brightspace?

You will be given access to the autumn courses in Brightspace approx. 14 days before the beginning of the semester. Before that, you will get a lot more information about how to get started with Brightspace. So keep an eye on your study portal and your AU email.

You can also read more about Brightspace at AU Studypedia. The page will be updated regularly with new information and guidelines for the platform's most important functions.

Important dates in the transition to Brightspace

  • August 2021: All students will receive access to courses in Brightspace approx. 14 days before their courses begin.
  • Start of the new semester 2021: Brightspace will be in use across AU.
  • 31 October 2021:Blackboard will shut down and all of the material you wish to save must be downloaded.

Advantages of Brightspace:

  • It is user-friendly and intuitive
  • It provides good opportunities for interaction and dialogue between students and between teaching staff and students.
