Widespread diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and disturbances in the fluid-salt balance have significance for the development of kidney problems. Jesper Nørgaard Beck is a newly-appointed professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, where he studies why well-known health issues such as diabetes can also lead to kidney disease. He also conducts research into how we treat and prevent kidney problems.

Since 2016, Jesper Nørgaard Bech has been head of the University Clinic in Nephrology and Hypertension at the Regional Hospital West Jutland, and the new professorship will help to strengthen the clinic’s ambitious research profile. The clinic has also recently had its status as a university clinic extended until 2025.
