On the latest QS international university ranking, Aarhus University ranks in the top 100 in 17 subjects – six of which are in the top 50.

Aarhus University has been ranked among the world’s 100 best universities in seventeen out of 42 subjects on the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject. Six subjects are in the top 50.
AU’s highest ranked subject is Archaeology, which is 17th worldwide.
AU is 21st in Dentistry and 28th in Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies. The other top-50 subjects are Agriculture and Forestry, Communication and Media Studies and Anthropology.

The other eleven subjects in which Aarhus University is ranked in the top 100 are Biological Sciences, Development Studies, Economics and Econometrics, Education, Environmental Studies, History, Medicine, Nursing, Politics and International Studies, Psychology, Social Policy & Administration.
The ranking lists for the individual subjects are based on the data from the general ranking list published by QS in June 2017, on which AU ranks 107th.

The QS QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s leading universities.
Rank on the list is based on responses to surveys on the reputation of the various subjects among employers of the universities’ graduates and researchers from all over the world, in addition to citation metrics and h-index.
The relative weight of these indicators varies from subject to subject. Reputation is weighted most heavily in the humanities and social sciences, while citation rates are the most important indicator in the natural and health sciences.
