Cardiologist appointed professor, department chair

Jens Cosedis Nielsen is the new professor, department chair of cardiology at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. The new professorship is a strengthening of the section of cardiac research that improves the prognosis and quality of life of patients suffering from cardiac arrhythmias.

Patients who need a pacemaker or a defibrillator implanted due to a pulse that is too slow, and those with an increased risk of sudden heart failure or severe heart failure, will in particular benefit from Jens Cosedis Nielsen's research. He is an expert in cardiac arrhythmias and is involved in several major research projects in both national and international contexts.

In his new function as professor, department chair, Jens Cosedis Nielsen takes on new and larger managerial tasks, while also having the opportunity to strengthen his research field. In addition, he will continue to guide and inspire junior research talents to become engaged in cardiological research. All with one goal in mind; to identify the best treatments and their significance for patients' prognosis and quality of life and also for health economics.

Jens Cosedis Nielsen took up his new professorship on 1 April 2021.
