Jeff Michael Sands to be named honorary doctor at Aarhus University

Aarhus University appoints the American researcher Jeff Michael Sands as honorary doctor. This will take place in connection with the University's annual celebration on 14 September 2018.

When the university holds its annual celebration on 14 September 2018, the American researcher Jeff Michael Sands will be appointed as a honorary doctor.

When the university holds its annual celebration on 14 September 2018, the American researcher Jeff Michael Sands will be appointed as a honorary doctor.

Jeff Michael Sands is regarded as one of the world's leading experts in experimental renal research. His research focuses on different methods to analyse how the kidneys regulate water in the body, the body's salt balance and its blood pressure. 


Twenty-five years ago, Jeff Michael Sands established his own laboratory at Emory University, where many great discoveries have been made about how the kidneys regulate the transport of sodium, urine and water in the different parts of the kidneys. 

Jeff Michael Sands has worked closely with Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital over the last twenty years. This collaboration has brought Jeff Sands to Aarhus University many times and has resulted in collaborations on publications and assessments of a number of dissertations.
