Matt Bailey is Professor of Renal Physiology at The University of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. His research examines physiological processes of salt-sensitive hypertension in experimental animals and in humans. Initially focussed on renal mechanisms of blood pressure control, such as pressure natriuresis, recent work has identified key contributions to salt-sensitivity of central salt appetite (Circulation, 2016] and the innate immune system (Eu-ropean Heart Journal, 2019). In this talk, Matt will present new work examining the interplay be-tween salt homeostasis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the relevance to salt-sensitive hypertension.
