In a rodent model of α-Synucleinopathy, Nelson Ferreira and Asad Jan with collaborators from the Vægter lab at Dept. Biomedicine and the Nyengaard lab at Aarhus University hospital and external groups from Australia, Canada and USA delineate the spatiotemporal progression of incipient α-Synuclein pathology (of peripheral origin) in the central nervous system. The authors show early affection of brainstem reticular nuclei in non-paralyzed mice, and pathological white matter lesions in relation to the neuronal pathology.
