An AUDEO researcher has received a grant of DKK 128,000 from the Danish Parkinson Association to conduct a study on Parkinson’s Disease. The study will investigate a hypothesis that the disease is caused by an infection in the stomach/intestines, which is transmitted to the brain by nerve paths. The study will look at whether patients who have undergone vagotomy (resection of vagus nerves) have a reduced risk of getting Parkinson’s Disease.
