You can now collect and return books and journals at Royal Danish Library. However, things are not back to normal (yet).
2020.05.19 |
As part of the step-by-step re-opening of the Danish libraries, we have now made it possible for you to collect and return books and journals. Our reading rooms, public areas and exhibitions are still closed, and our events in The Black Diamond and at other locations are still cancelled.
You can collect and return books and journals at the following locations:
You can collect and return books and journals on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 15 p.m., except for at Roskilde University Library where opening hours are 10 a.m. to 13 p.m.
All materials must be reserved online before you collect them. You do this by searching for and reserving the materials you’re interested in here on our website, just as you did before the close down. However, you must choose one of the six locations listed above as your pick-up point. We will notify you by email when your materials are ready for you.
Royal Danish Library is closely monitoring and adhering the recommendations of the health authorities under Covid-19, and we have taken a number of measures to prevent the spread of infection and ensure that the re-opening is done in a healthy and secure way.
This means, among other things, that you may experience longer processing times for reservations than usual. Processing time on loans may be close to a week under the current conditions. Unfortunately, we are also unable to offer delivery of materials directly to university staff offices in the coming period, and for the time being it is not possible to view materials in the reading room, either.
When ordering materials as of May 18, the normal loan rules for The Royal Danish Library apply.
If you had materials ready for collection during the close down period (March 13 – May 17, 2020), the materials are still reserved for you.
We encourage all our users to delete reservations that are no longer relevant. It will make it easier for us to re-open the library, if we only have to find materials that our users currently need.
Any loans from before the close down period, March 13, 2020, have been automatically extended to June 8, 2020, and you will not receive any recall notices/fines for the close down period.
If you had placed reservations for materials before March 13, 2020, they are still in our systems and you will be notified by email when you can collect the materials.
