New subsidies for graduation ceremonies for all Health degree programmes

Health has decided to financially subsidise the graduation ceremonies for all faculty degree programmes. The initiative will come into effect for graduation next summer.

When students at Health graduate in future, the faculty will be there to give a helping hand. Whereas some degree programmes have previously received subsidies from the faculty, while others have provided their own funds, it has now been decided to give the departments a specified amount per graduate to hold the graduation. The amount will be calculated on the basis of the duration of the degree programme, so that the highest subsidy per graduate will be given to the longest degree programmes.

"Celebrating graduation is an important way for everyone to mark the end of a long and good education at the university. It is something to celebrate with fellow students and maybe guests and the faculty naturally wishes to support such a great day. We have therefore made our financial subsidies uniform so we also underline that all degree programmes in the main academic area are equally important," says Dean Allan Flyvbjerg.

He also hopes that the graduates will look back on their time at Aarhus University as something really special.

"To be completely candid, what I hope is that in future all of our graduates will act as ambassadors for Aarhus University in all of their activities," says the dean.

In future the departments will receive funding before themselves deciding whether they will contribute with further financing of the graduation ceremony. The actual task of organising the graduation ceremonies will not be affected by the new initiative.

The total amount of subsidies for the holding of graduation amounts to slightly more than DKK 200,000 per year.
