A group of specially appointed researchers will help the dean to allocate the twenty or more fully financed faculty-scholarships as part of the faculty’s new model for PhD scholarships.

Together with the head of graduate school and the three PhD programme directors, seventeen researchers from different fields of study have been entrusted with a special task. They will guarantee a thorough academic assessment of all applications and advise the dean on which candidates should be offered a full PhD scholarship.
The fully financed faculty-scholarships are one element of the new PhD scholarship model, in which the majority of funds intended for PhD appointments are transferred to the departments themselves – see the article More influence for the departments with new scholarship model.
The new scholarship committee also has the task of carrying out an academic ranking of all applications to further assist the departments in selecting candidates for the allocation of their own PhD funds.
The members are appointed for a two-year term. During the first term which runs up to and including 2021, the committee consists of:
The seventeen members are appointed by the dean based on their research experience and with a view to ensure a broad representation of the faculty’s academic areas.
Health's PhD students make a significant contribution to the faculty's research output, and more than ten per cent of Health's basic funds are actually spent on salaries for the approx. 600 PhD students. The awarding of PhD scholarships therefore has a significant impact on both the faculty's academic culture and the distribution of a large sum of money.
