PhD student Dinesh Neupane has been awarded the Hans Ibsen’s Hypertension Prize 2017 for his extensive scientific work on primary prevention of high blood pressure.
2017.04.27 |
Dinesh Neupane conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lifestyle diseases in poor and under-resourced countries.
During his PhD degree programme, Dinesh Neupane has studied how widespread high blood pressure is in Nepal and whether voluntary, local health workers – Female Community Health Volunteers - can help to prevent and reduce blood pressure in the local Nepalese population – and they can. The goal is for a primary health initiative such as this to also find applications in other developing countries and for other chronic diseases.
Dinesh Neupane, who was himself born in Nepal, will be presented with the Hans Ibsen’s Hypertension Prize at the Danish Hypertension Society's annual meeting on 21-22 April 2017.
