The team behind SnartForældre.dk (SoonParents) has launched a substudy on semen quality. 40 male participants in SnartForældre.dk are invited to participate in the pilot study, which involves in-home semen testing by the men themselves.

SnartForældre.dk is an online study on lifestyle and fertility among Danish couples, who are trying to conceive.
Male participants in SnartForældre.dk, who have completed the two mandatory online questionnaires, will now be asked if they are interested in participating in a pilot study on semen quality. Those who consent to participate will receive a small test kit by post along with instructions on how to test their semen quality. They will be asked to do the test twice, 7 days apart, and return photos of the results via the SnartForældre.dk website.
The aim is to assess the acceptability and usability of the test kit, and to compare participants’ semen quality with WHO reference values and with that of male participants in an identical study in the US. A secondary aim is to assess whether the offer of in-home semen testing can act as an incentive to participate in the SnartForældre.dk study.
