Prof. Jens Leipziger has been elected a fellow of The International Union of Physiological Sciences

To celebrate and publicize the important contributions made by physiologists to science and health, the IUPS Academy of Physiology was established in 2021. IUPS is has announced its inaugural list of Honorary Fellows and Fellows, to the Academy. The Academy represents the diversity and excellence of worldwide physiology and consists of IUPS Honorary Fellows (Hon FIUPS) and Fellows (FIUPS).

Jens Leipziger has a long career within renal physiology. His research is centered around how the kidneys control water, salt and acid base balance. Most recently, his group has uncovered a key role of CFTR and the function of the hormone secretin in the kidney. The IUPS Academy is one part of a strategy to promote physiology and celebrate physiologists. Fellows can help shape the Academy, so that it becomes a resource for physiologists and others across the globe.
