The Brain Collection will survive

The more than 9,000 brains in the Brain Collection are expected to be transferred to Odense in the autumn 2018. The University of Southern Denmark, The Mental Health Services in the Region of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital will be hosting the Brain Collection in the new brain research centre BRIDGE.

TNU is currently hosting the Brain Collection, which is among the largest in the world.

At their meeting 21 June 2017, the Regional Council of Central Denmark Region approved the recommendation to destroy the Brain Collection if no new host was found.

Luckily, a new host has now been found in Odense, and the Regional Council of Central Denmark Region is expected to grant the wish to transfer the Brain Collection at the meeting of the Regional Council 30 May 2018.
