On Thursday 11 November at 14:00, Astrid Julie Bønnelykke defends her dissertation entitled "Anaemia in general practice. Laboratory testing, diagnostic investigations, and risk of cancer".
Anaemia is frequent in general practice, and the causes of anaemia are many. Anaemia may reflect underlying serious disease, such as cancer. Careful laboratory and diagnostic investigations of anaeamia may uncover underlying cancer and reduce potential missed diagnostic opportunities.
In a PhD project, Astrid Julie Bønnelykke has investigated the laboratory testing and diagnostic investigations in persons with new-onset anaemia detected in general practice. She has also estimated the risk of cancer in this population.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in the Public Health Auditorium (room 101), Aarhus University, building 1262, Bartholins Allé 4, 8000 Aarhus C. Please read full press release for more information.
