Welcome to Xingya Chang who has started as Research Assistant in Poulsen team

Xingya will be working with Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs), which can be used as vehicles for cytoplasmic targeting of a variety of entities, including peptides and oligonucleotides. This has applications both in basic research and, potentially, for intracellular targeting of drugs. The first CPP discovered was a short, highly positively charged segment of the HIV-1 TAT protein, tat, which fascilitates TAT to be taken up by cells. For clincal application, tat is the best studied CPP, and my studies will aim at describing if we can predict from in vitro studies whether (conjugated) CPPs like tat have toxic side effects in vivo.
