The future of the public health degree programmes will be on the agenda when the Vice-Dean for Education Charlotte Ringsted together with the Department of Public Health invites internal and external stakeholders to a workshop at the Sandbjerg Estate on 5 and 6 December 2017.

Health’s degree programmes will all begin work on a major development process to ensure that the degree programmes match the reality that graduates will come to face for many years to come. In the spring, the vision process kicked off at medicine, before the dental degree programmes at the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health followed suit. Now it is the turn of the Department of Public Health.
The work will begin when around forty stakeholders meet at the workshop on the topic of what the vision and strategy for the degree programmes should contain. The participants represent employers and professional organisations as well as directors of studies, lecturers, researchers and students from the Department of Public Health. The future outlook for the degree programmes is the overarching theme of the workshop, and the goal is to get input on how the department can best educate its graduates for tomorrow’s demands within public health.
"The public health programmes must not only contribute to graduates being able to meet the requirements of the labour market as it looks today. Our graduates must be able to contribute to the ongoing development of the subject, of public health and of the sector in general. We need to equip them to be at the forefront of meeting the needs of society when we talk of public health," says Vice-dean Charlotte Ringsted, who is in charge of the vision and strategy work.
A vision and strategic basis for the degree programmes will be drawn-up on the basis of discussions and input from the workshop. This is expected to be ready at the beginning of 2018. The department's three boards of studies will then assess whether there is a need to adapt the degree programmes.
