While effective drugs against chronic pain are not just around the corner, researchers from Aarhus University have succeeded in identifying a protein as a future potential target for medicinal drugs. Basic research shows that blocking a protein named sortilin prevents pain – initially in laboratory mice.

Pregnant women with migraine have an increased risk of miscarriage, caesarean sections and giving birth to a child with low birth weight. This is shown by a comprehensive register-based study from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. The study also suggests that prescription migraine drugs may alleviate the complications.
