The playful University 2019

The purpose of the conference is to provide a venue for the diffusion of research and practice for the playful university at the interface of a variety of approaches from several disciplines, including education, sociology, philosophy, media studies, design, literature, game studies and political science.

One step closer to chronic pain relief

While effective drugs against chronic pain are not just around the corner, researchers from Aarhus University have succeeded in identifying a protein as a future potential target for medicinal drugs. Basic research shows that blocking a protein named sortilin prevents pain – initially in laboratory mice.

Pregnant women with migraine have an increased risk of miscarriage, caesarean sections and giving birth to a child with low birth weight.
Nils Skajaa is the study’s lead author. He is employed as a researcher at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

Migraine increases the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth

Pregnant women with migraine have an increased risk of miscarriage, caesarean sections and giving birth to a child with low birth weight. This is shown by a comprehensive register-based study from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. The study also suggests that prescription migraine drugs may alleviate the complications.

In the years following haematological cancer, one in five survivors suffer a blood clot or bleeding which requires hospital treatment. A new comprehensive survey from Aarhus University could contribute to the prevention of these serious complications.

Infant mortality is higher for low-skilled parents

Infants of women with a short-term education are more likely to die within the first year of life. In more than half of cases, the cause of death is premature childbirth and low foetal weight. This is shown by research from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.
