Professor, MD, PhD, Inger Mechlenburg.

More than 1.2 million adults suffer from joint and muscular discomfort in Denmark. During her professorship of orthopaedic rehabilitation, Inger Mechlenburg will carry out research into the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of these disorders.

She will first and foremost examine the effect of strength training for patients who suffer from hip dysplasia. In addition, she will examine whether training before and after surgery helps patients with osteoarthritis of the hip, knee and shoulder.

Inger Mechlenburg has a background as a physiotherapist and also has a Master's degree in health science and a PhD. In 2016, she became only the second physiotherapist in Denmark to defend a higher doctoral degree in medicine.
