Professor from Health is new head of research at SDCA

Professor and consultant Niels Jessen from the Department of Biomedicine is to become head of research at the newly established Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus (SDCA).

Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus will be one of the world's leading environments for clinical diabetes research and will function as the focal point for diabetes research in the Central Denmark Region. The centre has now appointed Niels Jessen to head the work of living up to its high ambitions.

Niels Jessen conducts research into precision medicine with special focus on the treatment of diabetes. As head of research he will have the overall responsibility for building up, developing and running the research effort at SDCA and for implementing the annual research grant of DKK 20 million.

One of Niels Jessen's first tasks will be to determine the strategy for the research efforts and to bring together the team of researchers who will turn the vision into reality. Niels Jessen takes up his new position as head of research on 15 May 2018.
