Henning Grønbæk appointed professor, department chair

With the appointment of Henning Grønbæk as new professor, department chair at Aarhus University, both patients and research can now look forward to intensified efforts in the field of hepatology and gastroenterology.

Henning Grønbæk's own research area includes inflammatory liver diseases and, in particular, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He examines biomarkers which can provide information about the severity of liver diseases and the prognosis for the patient, while he also conducts treatment studies with e.g. milk proteins. Henning Grønbæk, who is also a consultant at Aarhus University Hospital, also works in the field of primary liver cancer and so-called neuroendocrine tumours, an area in which the university hospital has particular treatment expertise.

As professor, department chair, Henning Grønbæk is responsible for the clinical research that takes place between Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital in the field of liver-, gastrointestinal and intestinal diseases. And as research director, his task is to create synergy and collaboration locally, nationally and internationally with the aim of improving the quality of research and research-based treatment that takes place in Aarhus.

Henning Grønbæk took up the position of professor, department chair at the Department of Clinical Medicine on 1 December 2021.
