Next year, all strategic focus areas will be incorporated in the criteria for the distribution of full PhD fellowships in all four rounds of applications at Health. This means greater flexibility for the academic environments. Also, financing of PhD programmes will now be prioritised according to the criteria.

Applications for full PhD fellowships within specific, strategic focus areas can currently only be made in one or two of the four annual application rounds at Health. But from next year applicants will no longer have to prepare their application with regard to the round that is particularly relevant to their research project. In 2017, it will be possible to participate in all of the year's four application rounds, regardless of the particular strategic focus area which an applicant attaches special weight to in his or her application.
Specifically, the strategic focus areas will be incorporated in the general criteria for the distribution of full scholarships in all application rounds in 2017, just as they will come to be weighted in applications for grants towards the PhD programme.
A prerequisite for consideration for full PhD fellowships in 2017 will be that the application specifically provides an account of how the project fits into the strategic criteria in relation to:
A further requirement in order to qualify for full scholarships is that applicants receive a high score in a minimum of at least one of the criteria. Finally, there must also be a description of the academic environments as both research and educational environments.
In 2015 and 2016, the fellowships have been advertised within the following strategic focus areas: Early recruitment of talents, mobility and also interdisciplinarity and innovation. In each application round, the full fellowships are advertised within one of the focus areas.
