With effect from 1 November 2014, Professor J. Michael Hasenkam, MD, DMSc is leaving his position as Vice-Dean for Knowledge Exchange at Aarhus University to return to a position as professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, also at Aarhus University.

J. Michael Hasenkam has held the position as vice-dean at the Faculty of Health Sciences since 2011 and is well known – both within and outside the yellow brick walls of Aarhus University – for his tireless work to strengthen collaboration between the university and the business community.

During his time as vice-dean he has worked systematically to facilitate the business community’s access to the university and has been involved in numerous projects aimed at opening the university towards dialogue with society in general. He has drawn attention to himself in the media by e.g. encouraging research doctors to collaborate with the pharmaceutical industry for the benefit of patients.

Within the medico-technical area he has worked hard to coordinate efforts within tele-medicine, involving researchers, the healthcare sector and companies, where the aim is to define the future treatment of diseases.

"It is with great regret that I have received Michael's resignation. He has made a great contribution as vice-dean at Health and it will be difficult for Aarhus University to continue this work without his participation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him, both for his commitment and for the results he has achieved," says Dean Allan Flyvbjerg.

From 1 November J Michael Hasenkam will return to a position as professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, where he previously worked as a researcher in experimental heart surgery.
