The goal of clinical professor and diabetes researcher Annelli Sandbæk is to create better coherence in patient pathways across the healthcare system’s sectors, so that fewer people develop diabetes and those that already have diabetes avoid complications.

The new professorship strengthens Annelli Sandbæk’s research into coherent patient pathways, and will play a role in how the healthcare system organises the treatment of diabetic patients and puts cross-sectoral initiatives into practice in the future.

Annelli Sandbæk is affiliated with the university's Department of Public Health, and she also heads the major national diabetes study ADDITION, which has followed 165,000 Danes over the past 15 years.

The professorship is being co-financed by the Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus and Aarhus University Hospital.
