Strategy

According to the psychological workplace assessment (WPA) many lack information about the overall strategy. This will be discussed in the group working with the results from the WPA (the composition of the group can be seen in the mail from the undersigned on the WPA, send out May 19); but already now we want tell about what goals we in the management team currently prioritize.

Goals

• A stable economy for the coming years, giving better possibilities to work and less uncertainty

• Planning of the moving process into the new building in such a way that the movement is effectively implemented and the temporary facilities used optimally - and this must include intensive participation

• Development of the teaching together with the teaching organization and the study boards, so that we can have as much influence as possible on on possible changes

In addition, there are goals from the faculty:

• An economy in balance

• AU accreditation in 2016

• Increased external funding

Positive accreditation of the medical education

On the basis of a report of about 800 pages and a visit by a panel from the National Accreditation Institution 20. January the medical education is recommended to receive a positive accreditation, and all the criteria are rated satisfactory. Congratulations to everyone involved, especially Per Höllsberg, who as head of the study have done a great job.

Accreditation of the entire university

As part of achieving institutional accreditation, an accreditation panel will visit the university 1-3. June. It is expected that the final decision falls in June 2017. See more here:

Evacuation of all the Biomedicine buildings Tuesday, June 7th

The organization for working environment has planned evacuation Tuesday, 7. June 2016. This means that the alarms are triggered, and then everyone must leave the buildings. There are instructions on how the evacuation is implemented in all evacuation zones (typically on each floor of the buildings). We encourage everyone to read the instructions, including descriptions of the roles of Evacuation Leader and Assembly chairman. We will like as many as possible to attend, because it allows for everyone in good order to become familiar with how evacuation takes place. We would like to ask to all everybody to plan their work that day so that they can participate. The date has been agreed with the study administration, such that it doesn´t interfere with exams, but it is not possible to find a day in June without teaching. The exercises are for employees, but because the alarms will sound in all the buildings, the teachers should prepare for a break in their teaching about 15 minutes from the alarm sounds. The exercises are initiated and monitored by the working environment organization and staff from the Building Service and others, but it is important to emphasize that they only observe and that they are in no way responsible for the evacuation. If we in our planning has overlooked activities that are not compatible with the exercises, we want to hear from you as soon as possible. Write to annimh@biomed.au.dk

The exact time point of the alarms are: Bartholin Building 9 AM. Anatomy 10AM.  Buildings in West (Biochemistry, Physiology and Biophysics) 11AM.

Problems caused by the AU regatta

We will like to have feedback from employees who have been troubled by the regatta, sent to annimh@biomed.au.dk so that we can talk with the organizers on improvements for next year's event. Specify what issues there have been, and whether you have spoken to the organizers about this - and in that case what came out of it - and if you have suggestions for solving the problems. Our impression so far is that it has been better than previous years in the Bartholin and Anatomy buildings, while the problems have been worse in the 1170 building (Biochemistry), where cleanup also failed. However, there may be experiences we have not heard of, and we therefore ask for feedback. We would like to thank the employees who have made a special effort at the event, including persistently following up that the organizers have done as promised.

The last Biomedical network meeting before the summer is held Friday 17. June

The meeting is held in the coffee room (canteen) of Bartholin building's 6th floor, and everybody are welcome. Program: 16:00 Three short presentations. 17:00 Pizza, cake and drinks. Presentations:

Marleen Kortenoeven: Physiology of renal water and salt transport

Vivien Schack: Mechanisms controlling viral tropism

During the summer, we will in the management team evaluate the meetings and decide how they may proceed. Everybody are welcome to contribute with views on the subject.

In total 20 million Norwegian kroner is given out, and each project can apply up to 2.5 million Norwegian kroner pr. year. It is mandatory that research groups from at least 2 Nordic countries apply together. Election to the Department Forum

In May there were elections to the Department Forum. Among VIP there were only 2 candidates, and thus both Associate Professor Marina Romero-Ramos and professor Lone Sunde were chosen. Lone is new and replaces Birgitte Mønster Christensen. Among the TAP there were elections between three candidates for the two seats. Results were that the lab technician Annette Gudmann Hansen and animal care taker Dorte Hermansen were elected with 32 and 24 votes, respectively. With 23 votes lab technician Sandra Bonnesen is substitute for Dorte and Annette. There was only one candidate among the PhD students, and here Karthiga Thavachelvam was selected. The same was true among medical students where medical student Niels Jørgen Christensen was re-elected. There was a turnout of 54.4%, which is well above the turnout for example the board of AU, which was 21% last fall. You can read more about the election results here: http://biomed.medarbejdere.au.dk/valg-til-institutforum-2016/

Yours sincerely
