On 10 April 2018, the Ministry of Finance reached an agreement with the AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) unions to exempt the following categories of AC members from the lockout notice:
• Employees who have a permanent place of employment outside Denmark.
• Employees residing outside Denmark in connection with long-term stays.
• Citizens of non-EU countries with residency in Denmark granted in connection with employment.
The exemptions apply to the above categories of employees who are abroad when the labour dispute begins, as well as such employees who commence a stay abroad during the labour dispute.
In practice, this means that employees stationed abroad (business trips of at least 28 days) are exempted from the labour dispute. Employees on business trips are not exempted from the labour dispute.
