In his work, Professor and Consultant Bjarne Møller-Madsen treats children who are challenged and troubled by functional impairments and pain. Some of them due to cerebral palsy and others due to complicated musculoskeletal disorders. But all the children share a common trait of experiencing difficulties in their everyday lives due to their disability.

Bjarne Møller-Madsen and his research colleagues are determined to do something about this. For example, by developing a less traumatic method for evening out the children's either crooked legs or differences in length, and by carrying out medical trials intended to improve the pain relief available to the children. All in the hope of improving their quality of life.

Each year, following recommendations from the management of Denmark’s universities and institutions of higher education, the Danish Disability Foundation honours a researcher who has excelled in the prevention, treatment and reduction of the disadvantages caused by physical disabilities. The prize is accompanied by DKK 100,000.
